On January 16, 2023, Dr. Marko Princevac, Vice Provost for International Affairs and Mr. Jun Wang, Assistant Provost from the University of California, Riverside (UCR), USA paid a courtesy call to Dr. Takafumi Sakai, President of Saitama University (SU).

In 2016, UCR and Saitama University’s Graduate School of Science and Engineering concluded an inter- faculty exchange agreement, followed by an inter-university exchange agreement between UCR and SU in 2021. Since then, active research and student exchange have continued. The visit to UCR by Dr. Yasuhiro Hasegawa, Director of the International Planning Office/Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, SU last November provided the impetus to consider further possibilities for student exchange, which led to this visit from UCR to SU.

After a courtesy call on President Sakai, SU officials including Dr. Hideo Ichihashi, Vice President for International Affairs and Global Education had a discussion with them, which provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the cooperative relationship between the universities, especially on specific student exchange programs.
